What to Expect During Zoom Teeth Whitening

Zoom is a simple procedure that can whiten your teeth by several shades. Zoom is safe, quick, and effective. The Zoom whitening process takes about an hour and a half to complete. It’s one of the fastest and most convenient ways to whiten your teeth.

Procedure Overview

During the procedure, you will be fitted with a special tray that is filled with whitening gel and worn over your teeth for a specified period of time. The gel will be applied every twenty minutes throughout the treatment for a total of three applications. After the gel is removed, you will be given a special light that will help activate the solution and help it whiten your smile up to 8 shades brighter in just one visit. This entire appointment usually lasts around an hour or less, making it one of the faster teeth whitening procedures available.

While Zoom! is a highly effective procedure, it is not for everyone. If you have veneers, crowns, or bridges on your teeth, these will not whiten with this solution. Your dentist will provide you with a full examination of your teeth to determine whether or not this is right for you. Most patients are good candidates for the procedure, but your dentist will be able to tell you for sure during your consultation.

Preparation

Before your procedure, your dentist will clean your teeth and make sure they are healthy enough for whitening. Your dentist may administer a topical anesthetic to help reduce sensitivity and protect your enamel during the treatment as well.

Once you are ready, a special gel will be applied to your gums to protect the soft tissues in your mouth from the bleaching agent. Then, the bleaching formula will be carefully applied to the surface of the teeth. The hydrogen peroxide in the gel penetrates through the enamel of the teeth and breaks down stains. Once all surfaces of the teeth are finished, the gel will be completely removed, and you will be provided with post-treatment care instructions to take home with you.
